Fig. 1:  SNC METEORITES KNOWN IN 1983  The three SNC meteorite types were named for the first meteorite recognized with those particular chemical characteristics. A fourth type, named ALH 84001, was collected in Alan Hills, Antarctica and recognized in 1994 as a different ORTHOPYROXENITE type of meteorite associated with the other three.
